Artist research : Fortiche (Arcane animators)

In this post I will be talking about how arcane animators created the best Netflix show, and go through the processes they went through.

One of the methods the used to animate was to use themselves as references while animating.

In one of the scenes, where on of the characters is making adjustments to her robotic arm, Moise who was used as a reference imitates the motion, which is captured and later used for the animation.

In another scene in the show, he does the same thing for another character, where he imitates the motion that will be carried out. This gave me a couple of ideas that I could try, even though I am not making a 3D animation, but by simply using my self as a reference when drawing.

In order to do this, I took a couple if pictures of my hands in complicated point of views that I would have struggled to draw, and imported them in my clip studio.

While importing them, I made sure to import them onto different layers, just in case I had to make some changes if needed. Afterwards, I then cropped them and sized them onto my canvas.

After sizing them till I was satisfied with the layout, I then lowered the opacity to make it easier for me to sketch over the references.

On a different layer, I then sketched over the images.

Overall, this might be a method that I will start using a lot even though it feels like I am cheating but it is a really good exercise to help me become familiar with body anatomy and drawing different, and complicated perspectives.
